Margaret River Wine Region
The Margaret River Wine Region is another popular tourist attraction in Western Australia! It is located close to the town of Margaret River, a small town that is known for its wine industry. The region now produces over 80 different kinds of wines, including pinot noir and chardonnay. This area offers visitors a chance to explore the local wineries and sample the produce, with a variety of establishments located throughout the region’s rolling hillsides and valleys. Many vineyards offer tours where visitors can learn about the process of making wine from grapes grown in this part of Western Australia’s fertile soil! Other attractions include winery gift shops where you can buy locally made products such as wine glasses, souvenirs and artisan food products.
Karijini National Park:
Located about 1350 kilometers north of Perth, Karijini National Park covers more than 800 square kilometers and includes phenomenal landscapes. You will find waterfalls, cool swimming holes, spectacular gorges and dramatic red cliff faces.
The park is home to native species like kangaroos, koalas, and wombats as well as other animals like echidnas (a monotreme, which is an egg laying mammal), dingoes, bats, rock wallabies (large marsupials) and goannas (large lizards).
Perth Zoo
The Perth Zoo is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Western Australia. It is home to thousands of animals from around the world, including big cats and elephants. The zoo also features an aquarium with over 150 species of fish, reptiles and amphibians. Other features include a butterfly garden, aviary and children’s play area. The zoo has been voted one of the best places to visit in Western Australia!
Periscope Point Lighthouse
The Periscope Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse on the coast of Western Australia, located approximately 17 kilometers south of Exmouth and 29 kilometers north of Carnarvon. This lighthouse was built in 1878, and it has been a part of the community ever since. It was built from iron sheet pilings sunk into the seabed, which were then covered with concrete. The lighthouse is lit by two kerosene lamps on top of a cylindrical tower, which stands 134 meters tall. The lighthouse is open for tours on weekends, and it’s also home to the famous “Periscope” restaurant!
Perth Observatory
The Perth Observatory is another one of my favorite attractions in Western Australia. It was built in 1871, and it’s still an active observatory today! This Western Australian observatory is the oldest in the state, and has served the region for over 120 years. You can even enjoy a live astronomy show while you’re here.
Swan Valley Wine Region
This area is the home to some of Australia’s best vineyards. It also boasts one of the country’s most beautiful national parks and a wildlife park with over 200 species of birds. There are plenty of hiking trails, rock pools and waterfalls to enjoy. The area is also known for its beautiful scenery, and not just its unique wineries, which are often listed among the world’s largest. Visitors looking for a unique experience should take advantage of all that this area has to offer when visiting Caversham Wildlife Park or Murchison Falls National Park
Caversham Wildlife Park
If you’re looking for a wildlife park in Perth, you’ve got an option here. One of the most popular is Caversham Wildlife Park, which is located right on the Swan River. This park is home to over 2,000 animals, including kangaroos, emus, koalas, wallabies and wombats. It’s one of the best places to see native animals like kangaroos and koalas up close and personal. You can also see some amazing birds like emus, eagles, and other birds of prey. The park is also home to a variety of fascinating reptiles, over 50 different species, including pythons, crocodiles and lace monitors! There are plenty of trails through the park as well, so bring your walking shoes.
Wave Rock Caravan Park
Located 3 km east of the small town of Hyden and 296 km east-southeast of Perth, this natural rock formation is something you must see. It is also a great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. The park has a variety of accommodation options, and all of them are spacious and well-maintained. Many of the sites are powered, so you can get the most out of your campervan hire.
The park is surrounded by beautiful greenery and has plenty of activities on offer for the whole family. There is a nearby lake, salt baths to enjoy and wildflowers in spring. You can also enjoy some great bushwalks with stunning views across the landscape.
Esperance
The gateway to beaches that are arguably Western Australia’s best, Esperance township is just a short drive from Cape Le Grand National Park. Famed for Lucky Bay and its white sand shores, spectacular wildflowers, popular surf breaks and the scenic Recherche Archipelago that sits offshore. Esperance is around 8 hours from Perth, so you can head straight here and spend an entire vacation, or take in other amazing WA stops along the way.
