Qatar is referred to by some as a small but mighty country in the Persian Gulf. Even though Qatar is a small country, it is full of interesting facts. Don’t forget that Qatar hosted a successful FIFA World Cup in 2022. 

Even though Qatar is an Islamic state, it accommodates expats and visitors. Some of the most luxurious lifestyles are found in Qatar. Unfortunately, the perception of some people is that Qatar will be unwelcoming to non-Muslims. However, that is false because Qatar is home to more than 1 million expats.

Safe and Secure

In 2020, Qatar was ranked as one of the safest countries in the world by Number Crime Index. Based on this, many tourists visit Qatar more often for holidays or adventures. It is one fun fact about Qatar that many people don’t know. The crime index in Qatar is very low compared to some of the more developed countries. Being one of the safest countries in the world is a feat that Qatar should be proud of. 

Amazing Traditional Dishes

Qatar has so many traditional dishes, but Machboos stands out. As a matter of fact, Machboos is a national dish that even ex-pats enjoy. More so, the Machboos are very popular among the locals in Qatar. You can barely find the best restaurants in Qatar that doesn’t offer the Machboos on its menu. The Machboos are made of rice, meat, onions, tomatoes, and other spices. The taste of Machboos is sure to leave you wanting more. 

No Forest

There is no forest in Qatar, and that shouldn’t be surprising. All of Qatar and the UAE have a desert landscape and no forests. Moreover, most of the trees you find in Qatar are planted by humans. Instead, what you have in Qatar are shrubs and very few grasses. Also, Qatar is one of the four countries that don’t have a forest within their territory. In place of the forest, you will find stunning sand landscapes.

Cheap gas

With most of its revenue coming from petroleum and natural gas, its local prices are cheap. Qatar is one of the countries that produces petroleum and natural gas and sells it at a cheap rate to its residents. One of the perks the people of Qatar enjoy is buying gas at a very low price. 

Weekends are Fridays and Saturdays

Weekends in Qatar start on Friday and end on Saturday. Meanwhile, Sunday is the first work day of the week. If you come from the Western world, it may take some time to adapt to working on Sunday. However, the reason the weekend starts on Friday is that Islam considers it a special day. Other countries in the UAE also follow this pattern.

Qatar is a fun country with great facilities like the airport, a good police system, and other amazing things. Qatar citizens offer to stay in Doha, and most reside in Dubai. Also, Qatar has an amazing culture and lifestyle that doesn’t discriminate.
